Containers for Change

As a state, we’re great at many things. However, when it comes to recycling, Queensland can do a lot better.

Each year, approximately three billion beverage containers are generated in our state alone and are the second most littered item. So to help us all improve our recycling efforts and keep our beautiful environment litter-free, the Containers for Change scheme allows people get a 10 cent refund for each eligible container returned to a refund point.

COLLECT CONTAINERS

Collect your empty, eligible drink containers for recycling and prepare them for drop off.

DROP OFF

Bring in your eligible containers to Palm Tree Recycling. We have 2 convenient locations in Portsmith and Smithfield.

REFUND OR DONATE

Collect your refund via cash, scheme ID or you can choose to donate the money.
